Re: Can you recommend a good breast pump?

What do you need it for (SAHM, WOHM, etc.)? How much can you spend?

I would say go with the Medela one horn one. Swing, I think it's called? Same power, but like $120.

I was just looking at this one. I dont need the bag and stuff with the PIS nor do I think I need a double pump.

Has anyone tried the swing?

Re: Can you recommend a good breast pump?

I am a SAHM and I pump a couple times a week so I have a supply in the freezer for DH if he needs it. I have an Ameda Purely Yours and I really like it. It is a double electric and quite quiet. You can adjust the suction and how fast the rhythm is. It's really simple and easy to clean and use. I can easily get 3-4 ounces per breast in less then 15 minutes. I choose to only pump one breast at a time so that the other breast is full and ready for my DD when needed. So, it's good that the suction on one side can be plugged so that you can pump one at a time.

I think if you are pumping part time an Ameda Purely Yours is just what you need. It's a lot less pricier then a pump in style. It works great for me. I used to have an Avent Isis hand pump and that thing was a total PITA to use and to clean. I LOVE the Purely yours! You can easily find one for under $150.

Re: Can you recommend a good breast pump?

I only used an Ameda. I had a hospital grade one (thank you, WIC). I did buy an Ameda Purely Yours (from a DS mama). It worked fine.

For casual use, I'd go for the Swing. You could maybe get the Ameda PY cheap w/o the bag?

If I was to get PG again; I'd buy an Ameda PY.

Re: Can you recommend a good breast pump?

I have the Medela PIS now and started with the Ameda Purely Yours. I prefer the Medela because 1) it's BPA free and 2) I have the silicone horns, which are WAY more comfortable, IMO, than the hard plastic. I don't think the Swing comes with the soft horns, but you can purchase them separately. I'm getting a 2nd pump for new baby, so I can have one at home and one at the office, and since I've only ever been able to pump one side at a time, I'm planning on going with the Swing. For that reason, I'd love to hear more 1st hand experience with it too!
