What does tea tree oil smell like? Why is it more popular than peppermint oil?

Title says it all. I am contemplating between getting peppermint oil or tea tree oil to use for my wipe solution and was wondering what it smells like. I love the smell of peppermint, but don't see many moms using that oil, so just wondering why. Thanks!

Tea tree oil smells a bit stronger than mint. It has some wonderful antibacterial properties which is why I think a lot of people like it.

Tea tree oil has antifungal properties. This is why I use it.

It's anti-everything bad!

It has a strong smell and I've never smelled anything else like it. Either you love it or you don't. We love the smell of it here!

What they said! The Tea Tree Oil is not there just for the scent. In fact, it's totally not my favorite scent, but the antibacterial properties make it a good choice.

It's a really hard scent to describe. I do like it, but in some products it takes some getting used to.

The closest smell I can think of is eucalyptus. Not exactly the same, but similar.

Okay, but I thought peppermint oil was also an anti-fungal oil. At least, that's what I've read online. Hmmm. Anyone have a thought on that?

See, I don't really care for the scent of eucalyptus, so that's why I was asking. Also, I am using it for wipe solution, so do either of these have enough "oil" in them so I don't have to add oil for the wipe to glide easily or would I still need to add olive/vegetable oil? Thanks mamas!!

I really, REALLY dislike the smell of TTO--it's right up there w/ patchouli for me but I use it for the anti-fungal properties, and use equal amts (about 6 drops) of lavendar to balance it out and give it a happy scent.
For the 'glide' I use a small pour of Burt's Bees Apricot Oil and the scents altogether are delish.
I add all of the above to 2 squirts of baby wash in boiled water (so it doesn't go funky in the week it takes to use up all of our wipes.)

I'd recommend either GSE (grapefruit seed extract) for the anti-fungal, or the TTO WITH some other EO for the smell factor.

I've bought our EOs thru a coop on here and the Burt's Bees thru a monthly coop on HC and haven't had to buy since. I've been making wipes for over 2y with the supplies and could have plenty left for a whole gaggle of kids.

The best I can do to describe the scent is...medicinal mixed with dirt and patchouli.
