Question about blood sugar level 119 (1.5-2 hours after eating)

Long story short, I was borderline GD with my first. I spilled "tons of sugar" in my urine. I ate like I was diabetic to be safe. I gained 40 lbs (20 lbs in 1st trimester due to carbs to combat nausea). I gave birth to a 7 lb baby. I declined the test on baby #2, since my body was doing the same thing again (spilling sugar). I ate the same diabetic diet as #1. I gained 35 lbs and gave birth to a 7 lb 13 oz baby. I'm pg with #3. I've gained about 25 lbs at 28 weeks. I'm measuring 28 weeks. I've declined the test again this time. I eat a pretty careful, low carb diet at home.

Midwife told me today I'm spilling 3+ something (can't remember what) glucose in my urine, which according to her is a lot. They tested my blood sugar at about 1.5-2 hours after eating (just a finger prick in office) and it was 119. I asked her about levels, because it has been almost 4 years since I went through this, but she never really answered me. I explained that I had to have lab work done for my RH- shot two hours earlier and drank some coke to keep from getting lightheaded during the blood draw. So I had about half a coke 2.5ish hours earlier and then lunch (veggie pizza and salad...kids picked where we ate lunch lol). She just said the level wasn't really bad and it wasn't really good either, but she acted like it was worse than she was saying.

For those of you who have dealt with GD or borderline, is 119 bad? I can't remember and I'm having trouble finding definite answers online.

I think normal would be below 140 after 2 hours after eating

if it had been a fasting blood test results between 100-130 indicate pre diabetes

For pregnant women, you should be under 120, 2 hours after a meal, so it sounds like your level is borderline. The normal guideline for diabetics (non-pregnant) is under 140, they like to keep it lower during pregnancy.

I have it..

They want me under 125 2 hours after eating and under 140 1hr after eating. I do think it varies from doctor to doctor though on what the limits are.

119 isn't bad.. it's not perfect, but it's not bad. I'm thinking the carbs from the pizza or the coke didn't help. I wouldn't worry.

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I'm just going to keep doing what I have been and will talk more to my normal midwife at my next visit in 2 weeks.

under 120 is okay and it's ok to have them spike when you eat high carb/sugary foods. after Chinese one night i hit 210 and called the OB right away and she just wanted me to start drinking more water and test in an hour if it was still high she have me try something else. it went down and i had to stay away for it for the rest of my pregnancy, sad it know

I have GD this pregnancy and they want my levels to be UNDER 130 1 hour after eating. Plus, i can only eat a maximum 195 carbs a day.

How bizarre! My #s are different than everyone else's.

Under 90 for fasting
Under 150 2 hours after I eat

I'm on a tiny bit of insulin 3 times a day though, so maybe that is why it's different?

My fasting has to be between 60-90. I don't test 2 hours after, just 1 hr.

Yes, it seems so strange that different people have different numbers Who standardizes these things?

I'm not on insulin (yet)

Re: Question about blood sugar level 119 (1.5-2 hours after eating)

I was on insulin 4x/day and my goals were still under 90 fasting and under 120 for 2-hours postprandial. Insulin was the only thing that got me even close to my fasting goal!
