When can we start Reg oatmeal

At what age/stage can we stop using the baby oatmeal flakes, and start feeding regular Oatmeal?

Our 10 month old is just starting "stage 3" foods, and we're about out of our baby Oatmeal cereal. Can we start w/ well cooked regular oatmeal???

We never used baby oatmeal or cereal.

We have always used regular oatmeal. However, I would get the whole grain old fashioned kind instead of the quick oats. I'll copy and paste how I make it for my DD (from antoher thread):

Here's what I do....I'll give you my recipe. I make a HUGE batch because she eats 1-2 bowls a day hehe

I buy bags of the whole grain rolled oats. I put 2 1/4 cups in the food processor and grind them up for about 5 seconds...just so its a better consistency for her. I boil 8 cups of water. Once its boiling, I stir the oats in slowly and then lower the temp to low, cover and let cook (stirring every 3-4 minutes) for about 10-15 minutes. Then I ladle into those small Gerber plastic bowls (with the covers) and put in the fridge.

Gives me about 1.5 weeks of oatmeal and we ALWAYS have a healthy snack around for her

great thanks! So you don't have to freeze it, and it doesn't get all hard in the fridge?

Well, I don't freeze it because she eats so much of it. lol

It gets a little hard, but I add some organic applesauce or even Gerber organic stage 2 pears to it and she LOVES it that way. Softens it up and tastes yummy and healthy as can be.

My daughter loved this too, actually I do as well. I tell all my prego friends to at a bowl of oatmeal if they are hungry before going crazy on the junk food.
Eventually you can mix oatmeal with cornmeal, red river, bran, wheat germ. All sorts of sneaky grains.
