Silly ?: Do you burp your BF baby?

I remember going to LLL when pg with ODD. They said that most BF babes don't need to burp b/c there no air in BF. I think she was about 8 weeks and had been really fussy when nursing, and a friend (who also EBF) suggested burping her. Man, that helped a TON!

With YDD, she'll latch on and be nursing great. Then she'll do this thing where she latches, nurses for about 10 sec, pulls off, latches, nurses 10 sec. , pulls off over and over again. It's my way of knowing that she has a burp.

Also if I ever pick her up and I can "hear" her stomach sloshing, I know there's a burp. (If I don't get the burp, then it's spitup![xx(])

Just wondering if anyone else HAS to burp their baby...

Yup, they are really cranky if I don't. I guess I would be, too, LOL.

Re: Silly ?: Do you burp your BF baby?

DS is 5 months old and I still have to burp him. Of course they come up more easily now. He has always been very very gassy, and always needed burped. He spits up all the time, too, still to this day. People told me the same thing about BFing, but it's not true.

I had to burp dd until she was about 6 mo old. She gulped her milk and got a lot of bubbles in her tummy.

Yup! She NEEDED it. BF babies still get air. Especially if they latch on and latch off like my DD did
