Drying Wool?
I'm just curious how you dry your wool items. I washed and lanolized a wool soaker yesterday. After it soaked for a bit, I gently rung it out, placed it between a towel, and patted it dry for awhile. Even rolled it in the towel. Then I sat it out overnight.
Now, almost 24 hours later, it is still damp. What can I do to get it dry?

If everyone was the same the world would be a VERY boring place.

Re: Drying Wool?
Stick it outside or with a fan on it. No heat though or it'll felt!!

Re: Drying Wool?
That is another question I had - what does 'felt' mean?

Re: Drying Wool?
Ok, so this method will not be for everyone, but....
I put my wool in my washer, cold water, gentle cycle. I then lay it flat to dry. It dries much, much quicker.

Re: Drying Wool?
My washer has a 'hand wash' cycle on it. I put my wool in there and wash that way. Then I hang it in the laundry room.
Another way to dry wool faster is to hang it over a towel bar or lay it on a wire rack. If air can get to both sides, it will dry MUCH faster!

Re: Drying Wool?
I wash mine in a bucket, then dump it into the washer for a spin cycle and hand dry. Flat drying is best, they say - but I've never had any trouble with hanging to dry.

Re: Drying Wool?
I wash/lanolize mine in the sink and then put it thru a spin cycle on my washer. It spins more water out than pressing it between 2 towels and then I put it on my drying rack.
I may or may not turn a fan on it while its on the drying rack. It depends on how patient I'm feeling. |
