Diaper Rash Question
Ds2 has only ever had a diaper rash issue once before..and it was due to a food allergy.
This is baffling me. He's not had anything that he's never had before (food)...and this rash is slowly getting worse as the day progresses. It started as just red and irritated looking most around his anus, but I could tell it was causing him discomfort. I put Beaudreaux's Butt Paste on it (at every diaper change thereafter too). Then it was red & had a few bumps. Then, the redness was covering a larger area & there was a few more bumps..and some of the bumps looked like open sores. Now, all the bumps have like..white caps on them. I wiped thinking maybe the white was the ointment, but the white doesn't come off. My first thought was yeast or something other than just regular run of the mill diaper rash...but ds1 has had severe yeast before, and there was never any white bumps. Updated: also, he had a temp of 100 last night. Any ideas? ![]() PS -- I wonder if I ask too many questions? In my defense, I don't have any friends or communication with the outside world (LOL), so I tend to want to talk about everything....but this diaper rash thing is really baffling me. Advertisement

Re: Diaper Rash Question
Has he been eating an excessive amount of one certain food? Maybe an acidic one? My son had a similiar rash and it was caused by acidic poops, when he was in a stage where he wanted to constantly eat pineapple.
I really really like Burts Bees for diaper Rashes....never had a problem with it. Hope he feels better soon!

Re: Diaper Rash Question
He does have that sensitivity to fruit - so we completely avoid it. Older ds has that same 'allergic' reaction. I hate acid poops
![]() I should look into burts bees...someone else suggested it too. Thanks for responding!!!

Re: Diaper Rash Question
If he is running a fever, and the rash looks like it might be little blisters, it could be impetigo, which is a bacterial skin infection that is pretty contagious from one kid to another. I would take him in and get it checked by a dr.
He would not, I don't think, normally run a fever from a food allergy. |
