Awesome!! It was such a relief for me when DH finally understood why I was so passionately against circumcising our babies!

This makes me even more thankful to find out my first is a girl. I've always just assumed that circumcision was the preferred and recommended method. So to find out that my preconceived notions were wrong was jolting.

I'm very open to research this more just in case our next is a boy. Tried to bring up my new enlightenment to my husband who didn't even want to hear it. He is circumcised as is his son from a previous marriage. I asked him if he felt he has had any issues but before I could get specific he tried to cut the subject off. He feels passionately that we will circumcise if we have a boy. I'm going to continue to read up on it though. If it becomes a relevant issue for us in the future I will at least have an informed opinion with the matter.

Re: Top ten reasons not to circumcise your son

the issue here is that even if you do your research about long term side effects there are simply not enough unbias studies being done! my husband has issues b/c he was circumcised. He didn't know it until we start researching for our son though, he wanted it done, I said no way and now he is an intactivist too!

It's really interesting, my DH was thinking we would have our sons circumcised until he learned the truth, BUT DH was actually born in Europe so he never was. He just figured if all our DS's friends were, maybe it would be better to not be looked at strangely in the future (think P.E. class growing up, college communal bathrooms, whatever). I'm so glad people are educating themselves on the matter and the percentages are changing!

IMO if you are educating yourself and still choosing to cosmetically circ a baby boy/boy child you are uneducated about circumcision.

Re: Top ten reasons not to circumcise your son

So glad to hear that more and more parents seem to be educating themselves on the facts of this matter. I agree that a parent who chooses to routinely circumcise an infant does not have a good grasp of the facts.
