Quick stackable Icing for cut outs?

I need some good icing recipes for stackable cut outs. The cookies are made, but nothing to ice them with. I have food coloring I plan to use as well.

Thanks!

Would this work? Sugar Cookie Icing ... I don't use that kind of icing myself (I like it to be fluffy almost like cake icing), so I don't know if it's any good or not. It has a bunch of reviews though ... HTH.

I've always used just powdered sugar, milk and almond extract.

The key is letting them dry overnight.

I do a mix of 1/2 stick softened butter, tsp of milk and powdered sugar, (u can add vanilla) enough to make a thick paste. you'll have to let it dry somewhat. The stiffer the frosting, the quicker it will dry. But if u have soft cookies they might be hard to frost. Layer wax paper in between layers and dont do more than 2 or 3 layers.
