Re: BF and my plane ride!

I always nurse during take off and landing and we've never had a problem with DS's ears. Actually nursing is better than a paci or bottle since nursing requires sucking harder and is therefore more effective.

Re: BF and my plane ride!

I attempted to get mine to nurse (he was 5 weeks at the time) and he wasn't really interested. He slept during landings and takeoffs and didn't seem to be bothered by the pressure. I just had the boob available if he wanted it.

What she said. We nurse if awake. Let sleep if asleep. We once slept CROSS-COUNTRY, lucky me

The one thing I didn't know until my second flight - if they're asleep, its ok to let them sleep! I though I HAD to have my DS sucking on something. My second time flying, he slept through the entire plane ride and was fine.

Good luck.

Re: BF and my plane ride!

I know this is too late for the OP, but maybe someone else will benefit...

We just flew across the country (and back) with our 8 month old and he nursed a TON during the flights. He did wonderfully and I really attribute it to all the nursing he did (comfort, help with his ears, etc).
