In a little over a month.......
....I will be breastfeeding a 3 year old....I never ever fathomed how much this relationship with my son would mean to him and I. I just can't believe it sometimes. I have such mixed feelings about weaning, part of me is over it and ready to have my body back and part of me wants to hold onto this relationship with every ounce of strength I can muster. First, we thought he would be weaned at a year, then I did research and decided we should try for 2 years, then more research and we decided we should let him decide when the time is right. I just cannot imagine him ever wanting to stop on his own
He still "needs it" and makes sure to tell every one that nummies are not just for little babies and that little kids need them too

Re: In a little over a month.......
Yay, mama! If I hadn't gotten pregnant last August, I might be right there with you! Still miss it a little with my 3 year old, even though I have a newbie to nurse.Again, great job!

Re: In a little over a month.......
Congratulations! I just wanted to say that I strongly support you and am proud of your perserverance. I am nursing my 16 month old son and I LOVE it. I am not sure I will get to three years, but I know it is good for them. (Reason being: We want to try for another baby soon, and I have heard they will ween themselves when your milk changes after the first trimester.) I am going to continue nursing for now.
ps- I was offended by a conversation that some of my close friends (one breastfed for a year and the other one is not a mom) had this weekend, and getting on here and seeing this gave me encouragement. Thank you for sharing! |
