I need a new dish to take for Christmas!!

I'm trying to think of a new dish to take for Christmas dinner at my in-laws. I usually take two dishes. Here's what I have taken in the past.

Green bean casserole
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Bacon Chestnut wraps
deviled eggs
Peanut butter mouse
Pumpkin pie
pecan pie

I'd just like to take something new. MIL insists nobody likes greenbean casserole, DH's aunt begs me to tkae Peanut butter mouse and then nobody eats it. The strawberry pretzel salad was such a hit that SIL asked for the recipe and has been taking it ever since. Ugh. The in-laws provide everything that's really necessary, so what I bring isn't all that important. lol

Re: I need a new dish to take for Christmas!!

Here are a few of my favorite holiday dishes (well dishes that I normally only make during the holidays)

Chocolate Trifle (I use raspberry preserves and fresh raspberries in the layers also plus use fresh whipped cream)

Boursin Cheese Potato Gratin

Corn Casserole - (I omit the cheese but some may like it)

Roasted Asparagus

Cocktail Meatballs

Bacon-Onion Appetizers (I add cream cheese to the mix too and it makes it even more awesome!)

I'm sure I have more but I need to go through all of my saved recipes. Hope that helps a little

Re: I need a new dish to take for Christmas!!

What about Jello Fluff

A large container of Cool Whip
a big box of Jello (strawberry is really good)
and cottage cheese (as much or as little as you want) about 2 cups for the big container amount

You can also put pieces of fruit in it.

Just mix it together and let it sit for an hour or so until the jello firms up the cool whip a bit.

Yummm everyone in my family likes this and it's normally a hit anywhere I take it.

I have the best recipe for candied sweet potatoes. I made them this year for the 1st time and they were a hit. So sweet and very unhealthy...lots of sugar and butter...but oh so yummy!! If you are interested PM me and I will get you the recipe...don't have it in front of me right now.

:yeah that: it's funny I was thinking the same thing- I have an awesome "sweet potato surprise" recipe that has apricots, pecans and even marshmallows in it- delicious... all of it gets eaten every time. PM me for the recipe if you'd like it (it's pretty easy to make too)

Oh my Gosh, my mom used to make that when I was a kid!! I loved it!! I think she put pineapple in it. Hmmm, that's about as healthy as you can get with cool whip. lol I'm looking at all these decadent recipes and it suddenly hit my that MIL isn't supposed to eat any of that since her heart attack. sigh.

I didn't read the posts- so I didn't see that you had already posted a trifle as an idea- aren't they the best? And they look soooooo pretty!

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow. So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
