what is more low fat, lean meat or beans and lentils?

we really need to cut down the amount of fat we eat as my wedding is in 7 months and ds has medical problem. if we cut out some meat meals and use beans and lentils we still get the filling protien that ds needs. but do they have less fat in them? or are they high fat. like fat that will make you fat!

Beans are definitely low fat. Just be careful how you cook them so you're not adding lots of fat in your recipe.

they have no fat. unless you add fat to the recipe. if you pair it w brown rice it makes a complete meal. it will have everything you need.as it makes a complete amino acid chain. you can survive and flourish on brown rice and beans. not all beans tho. but its only a couple that dont have everything. black beans are some of the best and lentils are fabulous.

Beans are so much better for you!!! I believe that the amount of meat and animal protein that north americans consume is a big part of the obesity epidemic.

Since cutting meat from our diet 6 months ago my DH he has lost 22 pounds in 5 months. I didn't lose any weight but I rarely ate the meat before becomming vegetarian. Of course we aren't eating at fast food places anymore (hard to find much vegetarian on their menus) so that has helped a lot.

Also look into some of the grains for protein- quinoa is fabulous and higher in protein than rice.
