Re: Fuzzi Bunz causing diaper rash???

My sun is called "Clean and Fresh" and the ingredients also say "contains anionic and/or nonionic surfactants." I assume that "Clean and Fresh" is the scent. It does have a smell, is yours totally unscented?

Ok I'm just a bit paranoid. This is what mine looks like.

Mine doesn't really smell. I keep sniffing it and it just smells soapy.

I think the kind you have should work fine. I've just heard that scented detergents can cause more problems with fleece. But, the ingredients listed should be OK.

I do know that Sun does have "added" detergents, like floral scents and added bleach and softeners. As long as you don't have one of those I think you should be okay.

Now I want to run to the store just to check and see what kinds they have!

Have you tried the Oxygen cleaner? It rocks!

Oh, and sorry for ! I didn't mean too!

I think you are okay. As long as the ingredients listed don't contain dyes and fragrances.

According to this anyway...

I have had awesome luck with Sun. I've never had any build-up problem on my fleece. I did have some issues with smell in my inserts, but I think that is because I wasn't using ENOUGH detergent. I was so paranoid about getting build-up that I was a little skint with the detergent.

Re: Fuzzi Bunz causing diaper rash???

Thanks for all the info...
It seems there are lots of different options for detergents and washing techniques.
My sun detergent does have a fragrance and I haven't found one that's unscented. I will try the sportswash from wal-mart, but I thought I read something about it causing build up too. I will also try to rotate detergents. I won't go to prefolds and covers...that would mean another financial investment, time spent trying to source the sizes I need, and I really can't imagine successfully putting TWO layers of cloth on my wiggly child.

I really hope things improve.

For us, they wouldn't, I ended up using some fitteds from a friend I changed her every 20 minutes (no cover) for about 2 hours, and the rash was gone. In order to get rid of the rash, air needs to be getting to the effected area, it is one of the few drawbacks of PUL, it just does not breath.

I know PUL doesn't breathe, but do disposables actually breathe???
It seems like they wouldn't breathe either, but DS never had a rash with sposies....

This is why we added fitteds & wool to our stash. DD would get rashy in PUL pockets all the time. Now we alternate fitteds/wool & pockets and no rashes.

I have 3 "detergents" I rotate to wash with, sportwash, Sun & washing soda/simple green. I also use the SUN brand oxy stuff & it is awesome to whiten & strip dipes. I use a squirt of dawn about every 2wks in the laundry too.

I know what washing soda is, but what kind of Simple Green do you use?
The all purpose cleaner in the spray bottle? I went to their website and didn't see anything for clothes washing.
