CPSIA Laws.

I am sure there is a thread about this. But I couldn't find the exact answer that I am looking for.

My question is this:

How will these new laws effect DS and the FSOT? What will the new rules be and when will they start? How will this effect WAHMs?

Any Lawyers wanna chime in here? I have read all the stuff on this and I am clear on the IRL sales stuff, but the online stuff is foggy to me.

Re: CPSIA Laws.

From what I have been able to understand, no one will be able to sell child things without a General Conformity Certificate after Feb. 10th. But like you I'm not sure how this will affect FSOT. I'm not sure if it is applicable when there is no money changing hands. Can you imagine the millions of garage sales that will never be if second hand stuff by non retailers cannot be sold? I haven't figured it all out yet but I wanted to chime in to say that I care (i'm not a mod lol) and am also following all of this. Maybe we need to contact the CPSA. There might even already be an answer this on their FAQ page.

The law is HR 4040. Google it and you will find more info.
It doesn't sound like this will be legal anymore!!
I don't know if anyone is really understanding the gravity of this bill that quietly passed!

Thanks. I have looked and looked threw their fact pages and I see nothing. I don't want to contact them only because that might send up a flag for them to come after online communities as well. What a mess.

I've looked through the facts pages also, and it jsut sounds kinda iffy to me. My predictions are that is will end up almost impossible to strictly inforce. I'm thinking "Trades" here on the FSOT would be perfectly fine right? So what if you "trade" ten dollers for a diaper? There will be a jillion loop holes.
Honsetly, with the economy like it is they cant expect to put WAHMs or ofer craftsmen out of business. Nore can they expect people to stop buying used childrens clothes! The thought of it is rediculous!

Re: CPSIA Laws.

That is a good point about contacting them, but ignorance is not going to be a defense if they do end up coming after places like this. I tell you what I'm a part of the Real Diaper Industry Association. They have a legal team. I will contact them and see what they say. When I hear back I will post.
