Dd loves her Nuby soft spout cups. She also has a Munchkin one and they are about the same, except the Nuby ones have a lid.

Re: Can you recommend a sippy?

My daughter hates sippys. So we went to straws. The Thermos Foogo has a soft straw and keeps liquids cold for 12 hours. It maybe a little heavy for him, but you can try it. We really like it. Straws are great for language development too. They help strengthen the tongue. So a little added advantage as well. You could also try something like a Sigg bottle. It has a sport top spout. My friend's son loves that.

The Safe Sippy without the valve worked well for my 1 yr old. They are easy to clean and indestructible.

Re: Can you recommend a sippy?

We got the Nuby one with the straw first. I washed it, filled it with water and took a drink out of it (to see how it worked) Well, you have to bit on the straw and when I did get some water out, it tasted AWFUL and noticed that even though I washed it, it smelled SOOO strong of plastic. That's going back!
We ended up getting a Thermos funtainer (has a straw top). My DS is 6 months old and he LOVES it!! btw, I found it at wal-mart for 9.99 and it was in the kitchen stuff.

Re: Can you recommend a sippy?

I would recommend the cup my 15 mo. old loves that i introduced to him at 11 mo., but even though i read that it didn't have bpa's in it, it actual does, argh you gerber. going straight to a hard spout at 12 mo. worked for us, it took him a while to get used to it, about two weeks and he was a pro.
www.thesoftlanding.com
has lots of bpa free sippys, the most economical is the playtex one, it's what I'll be replacing my gerber hard spout sippy with.

I love Playtex. The Nubys we have are so soft, DS always squishes his nose in right at the air hole. I'm always pulling it back out as the whole top dents in. We have one Gerber from a garage sale- it is always loosing the valve, what a pain. I don't use it anymore!
