yeah that!
my ds could have cared less about crawling, but was walking by 9 months on his own. others commented on how early he was walking.

I'd just (very honestly ) tell them there IS no such thing as crawling "on-time" -- it's not even considered a milestone, for Pete's sake! -- and by the time she's old enough to walk, those dipes won't seem quite so big on her anymore!

As others have pointed out, the majority of humankind DID manage to walk upright prior to the advent of Pampers.

My DH wore cloth, and walked at 8 months old. Back in the day, cloth was all there was, yet you don't see all of the older generations dragging themselves around on their elbows. And dare I say, only brand new parents are thrilled when their baby starts becoming mobile. Then you realize what a blessing it was to put the baby down and have them still be there when you come back. People really need to apply their logic filter before opening their mouths.

"Did THAT just come out of your mouth?! Seriously?"
That's what would have come to my mind.
How can people seriously think that that is okay to say and not insensitive or judgemental, not to mention completely wrong as far as human evolution goes?
Arghh...I'm mad now! I knew I shouldn't have read this thread.
People really are stupid sometimes!

We started using GMs on our DS when he was 2 weeks old. We heard the same kind of comments, too, which I ignored. He sat up unassisted a few days before 6 months, crawled a few days before 11 months, and isn't walking yet, but is cruising all over the place--basically doing everything EXCEPT taking steps alone. I'm thinking he'll be walking by his 1st birthday.

I think your baby will be just fine.

My daughter has been cloth diapered since day 1 in plenty of bulky diapers. She was crawling before 6 months and started walking unassisted 1 week after the 9 month mark. My life has been chaos ever since she became mobile!

If what your family says is true, then it's a good thing I cloth diaper. I think I would have lost my mind if she had walked or crawled any earlier!!

My youngest (only cloth diapered babe from my bunch) walked at the same age as his brothers. I walked around in cd service prefolds and plastic pants myself and managed to walk by 9 mos old by my mom's account.

my dd just turned 5 months and has been cded since birth and she is not really crawling yet but she is almost there. So imo, this is NOT true!

If anything, the big fluffy butt makes them more adventurous. You should have seen my DD's face the first time she plopped down in a sposie.....she was not happy! The fluff is so much more of a cushion.

And yes, DD took her first step one day shy of 13 mos, and is 15 months today and is walking pretty much everywhere. My sister and I were CDed from birth, and I took my first step on my first birthday and I think she was 10 months for her first.

I think it's bull. My DD's were both CD's and DD1 was walking at 7.5-8 months and DD2 was walking at 10 months. I was a CD baby and I walked at 8 months as well.
