My favorite balm (recipe)
Can I post a balm recipe here or is it considered spam?
I am loving this chamomile infused balm, originally intended as a baby bottom balm but now I use it for any area that needs a little extra soothing. For example my little one is super sensitive so lotions/preservatives are out but she also is super chunky with lots of rolls. I powder between the rolls to keep the folds from getting red but if they get red anyway I use this balm and it soothes it without any irritation. Here's the recipe: 112 g chamomile infused olive oil (make your own infusion and leave for at least 3 weeks, then strain before use. Mason jars work fine) 56 g shea butter 56 g jojoba oil 56 g coconut oil (76 degree grocery store oil will work. if you can get fractionated coconut oil it will absorb more easily though) 56 g beeswax (if you want to make a vegan balm, use candelilla wax but half the amount to only 28 g) a few drops rosemary Oil Extract (natural antioxidant preserves shelf life and also protects oils' beneficial properties during heating) Be careful to not overheat. You can use a double boiler method or microwave but if you microwave it do it in short bursts. Higher temperatures can harm the oils. This will make about seven 2 fluid ounce jars. You won't need to use much at all. A very thin layer will work fine. Reduce the recipe if you are not planning on sharing these because a little goes a long way and it would take you a long time to use all of these! ***I am using it without problems with a cloth diapered baby (Fuzzi Bunz) but I use it in moderation and only when needed. I think if you put it on thick or all the time it could create build up over time and make your pockets repell so no guarantees on that...

Thank you very much.
![]() Just remember a little goes a long way. You'll really just need a very thin coating. Let me know how it works out for you!

Re: My favorite balm (recipe)
I am so terrible at sticking to a recipe in the kitchen, so when I decided to make a balm for my family for hands, lips, noses, and my preggy tummy, I didn't really write a recipe down. I've made it a couple of times. It goes something like this:
.5 ounce of beeswax almond oil hemp oil coconut oil tea tree EO orange EO lavender EO I just mixed all the things I like and it made something that even my husband will use (he HATES it when I use lotions and would never use them himself). Once I tried to add honey to it but later found a sticky big blob of all that honey at the bottom... hehe I wish I had some shea or coconut butter to make it nicer. |
