Why do Yams have a milky substance....
Is it normal for a milky substance to leak from yams??? I've never made them and went to cut one up today and saw that...

you just can't see it with a potato (because the potato is white), but it's the same idea. Move the potato onto a dark surface and then cut it and you'll see the same stuff. It's just starch.

you just can't see it with a potato (because the potato is white), but it's the same idea. Move the potato onto a dark surface and then cut it and you'll see the same stuff. It's just starch.
