I have always put it down upside down cause I feel like the lid will get germs on it if you put it down the other way

I usually put it handle up in the corner of the sink so it drips into the sink but I can still pick it up easily- but I have a teeny tiny kitchen and can essentially stand at the sink & stove at the same time

I usually put it handle side up and that is how I voted... until I thought about it a little more. If the lid is completely spattered/wet, I would either hold it or put it handle down. A little of everything!!

Where is the "other" category when you need it?

I put it handle side up (usually on a towel or balanced on something though, as to prevent a mess). I used to put it handle side down, but I got burned a few too many times and gave it up. Even when I've put it straight on a surface I've never had it seal to anything!!

i voted handle up. for some reason its just easier to set it down this way. it does make a big mess but after cooking my kitchen is a big mess anyway and i have to clean no matter what..why not the mess from the lid

That is primarily my reason for doing it handle side down too.

But I've also seen it explode the glass cook tops from touching the cold glass with a hot lid. Huge vacuum and POP! Busted glass top. My husband's not handy so I try to avoid breaking things at all cost!

Since I learned that same lesson, the same hard way. I now hold the lid in one hand and stir with the other!

my DH on the other hand does it the other way and it drives me CRAZY. the countertop get all wet and dirty and of course he doesn't clean it. just thinking about it annoys me!
