Me too. I would not put it handle side down because then you increase the risk of burning yourself. If the lid does get put down and it leaves a ring, I just wipe it up then and no mess later.

ouch! that's not good. I don't understand how the suction thing happened to be honest. My cooktop is gas so it's not flat. I usually do handle side up unless the inside of the lid has stuff from the pot, and then I do handle side down so my counter doesn't get gross. I don't normally put lids on the cooktop because my lids are all glass and get really hot.

I flip it so the handle is down, so it doesn't get ick-o all over my glass-top range. Never thought there would be a problem with putting it the other way though headscratch: Thanks for the heads up!!
