Re: How often do you cook.
I cook everyday. I usually shop every other Sunday. After the kids are asleep Sun night, DH and I cook a few pounds of boneless, skinless chicken and lean ground beef. We put enough for one meal worth of supper/lunch in zip-top bags to freeze and then make fairly quick meals from there. With the ground beef, you can add fresh made/canned beans for taco salad or chili along with the seasoning. You can also make one-pot spaghetti or whatever else you usually use ground beef for. The chicken is used in casseroles, soup or salads. I also always have a quick cooking rice to add to the packaged flavored ones. It tastes the same, but you end up with more for a little less money and you cut back on some of the salt, etc per serving. One or two hours on one day every couple of weeks is a lot better than an hour or two a night.

Re: How often do you cook.
I cook everyday (Oh...wait..I lied...I didn't cook anything today...my dd asked to cook dinner...and I said, "Have at it!") So, I cook at least something everyday. Although I do plan ahead so we may have baked chicken with all the fixin' one night and chicken soup within the next night or two.
I remember the way it was when I had a 4yo, 2yo, and a newborn and I did all the cooking and cleaning and it was a heck of a lot of work! Now a days my 12yo and 5yo do dishes after breakfast and my 9yo and 7yo after dinner. So all my dishes are washed, dried, and put away twice a day! Have more kids....it makes life easier!

Re: How often do you cook.
I love to cook, but yes, like you, I don't have a lot of time anymore. There is a good cookbook called "Desperation Dinners" - meals in 20 to 30 minutes. Of course, Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals are good too! I like crock-pot cooking, casseroles, and one pot meals are what I do when I am pressed for time. My dh and I just can't get into freezing extras though.

Re: How often do you cook.
I cook daily, even now when we're in the hotel because I'm cooking pasta in the microwave for DS, lol. I also bake 2-3x a week - bread, cookies and other stuff
![]() DH also cooks, but he's rarely home during the day when I'm making D's food, so I have to cook at least once per day to make D his lunch. I rarely feed him re-heated food, he prefers the fresh stuff

Re: How often do you cook.
I am one of the lucky few who have a husband who cooks. I would like to do more of the cooking but I feel like I have two left feet in the kitchen. I am also a person who can't stand messes and it seems that when cooking, there is no way around having a "mess" during the cooking process. My family of course nags me about it and I even got three "simple recipe" cook books for Christmas.... I think they are all trying to tell me something.
My husband has been working two jobs and is barely ever home. I am starting to cook a little more so he can spend that time with the kids. It is going slowly and can get crazy but I just remind myself to clean up as I go along. I shall prevail! |

Re: How often do you cook.
That depends on what you consider "cooking". Do meals out of a box or in the microwave count?
If not than I cook 1-2x a week. DH cooks a lot of the time... and yes I am VERY lucky. DH is an awesome cook!
