Re: Burping tips/tricks? ds is a MAJOR burp resistor!

ok, I asked the pedi on this. sit them on your knee and hold onto their jaw with one hand and straighten them up to a non-bent over position. So once they are upright, Start to rub with the palm of your hand in little cirlcles vigorously from thier back left hand side up to thier shoulders (the stomach is on that side). It helps to "form" all the bubbles together. Then start patting. I swear my little man is a TOUGH burper. I could pat him on my shoulder for like 20 min and nothing. But sit him on my leg like the do in the nicu and HOLY MOLY he belchs. Good luck. From another sleep deprived Jan. mama

Congrats on Your Lo!
I am soo glad you asked this I was having the same problem! My lo has only spit up once since the hospital, and truth be told it scared the crap out of me because I didn't think breastfeed babies spit up!
I love the mamas on DS!

Re: Burping tips/tricks? ds is a MAJOR burp resistor!

What worked for my daughter was "stirring the baby". You hold the baby in a sitting position on your knees, and then "stir" or move the baby in a circle kind of like if you were stirring a big pot with two hands. I hope that makes sense!! LOL. With my son, what worked for him was putting him up on my shoulder so his tummy rested just below my shoulder and doing the "mommy dance", bouncing pretty quickly and moving side to side, he'd always burp within a few seconds doing that when nothing else worked!
