Re: baptized?
Veronica - Thank you for posting that! That answers a lot of questions I had more clearly than what I was taught in cathechism.

We did "dedicate" our children, however. We have a "ceremony" at our church each Mother's Day where all the babies that were born in the last year are brought before the church and the parents and the church as a whole vow to raise them "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." However, it has nothing to do with their personal salvation - just a promise as parents to raise them as God sees fit.

oh gosh, i wuld let her have it, not my child but my foot up her behind! to answer your question, my kids are not baptised, me and dh are both catholic and the religion normally do these as infants, however with my son, it was too hard choosing who the god parents should be, we waited realy long and then when he was about 14 months we had him dedicated to god on easter. danae hasn't been baptised neither and will most likely just be dedicated to god through church as well. the chrsitian church my mil goes to is where we had this done with my son. i'd like them baptised but not sure i want to have this done as children, if we do get it done though, we will have them baptised together, it just depends, i mean we need to save money to pay the priest and the church and then all the food..its alot that goes along with baptising here.. but so far neither are baptised, both me and dh were done as babies

My children wont be baptized until they are 8, but they are all blessed at 2 -3 months( i have winter babies, so we avoid the church for a while)

Re: baptized?
My dd was baptized when she was 3 months, and ds was baptized at 1 1/2 months. Dh and I are the same religon so, it was an easy decision.

Re: baptized?
No, they were/are not. My older DS was dedicated at birth. They will be baptized when they want to be! My DH is Lutheran and his extended family is having a fit over our decision....hehehe!

Re: baptized?
well... I have 'unique' views on religion, so no one be offended!
I hate organized religion. All of it. I did not say, however, that I hate religion. I think God doesnt care if we baptise our babies, or if we make the sign of the cross before we pray, or if go to church on sunday or not. I believe God cares more about the kind of life we live, the morals we teach our children, and our respect for our fellow man. To me, the rituals of religion are meaningless. Its the spirit in all of us that counts. That being said, Celeste was baptised when she was about 6 months old. She and her cousin who is 8 months older were baptised together. I did it for my grandmother, because it meant alot to her and she nagged me all the time! LOL! The ritual itself didnt mean anything to me, but it did to her so I did it. Now she is asking about baptising dd#2, and I havent decided yet if I want to.
