Pink Eye

Yesterday evening DD's eye was really watery and gunky. I was gonna call the Dr. this morning, but now it's just watery - not pink or gunky at all. She does keep rubbing it though.

Could it still be pink eye? Would you take her in?

Re: Pink Eye

Can you see if her eye is red at all? I know the goopy watery eyes could just be allergies, but if they have the "blood shot" eye look then it's probably pink eye.

I read yesterday that it doesn't have to be red for it to be pink eye. Do you have breastmilk. It's supposed to help.

No, no breastmilk here, unfortunately. It doesn't look red at all, just watering constantly. I think if it's still like this tomorrow I will go ahead and bring her in.

Re: Pink Eye

Is she sick? Our eyes drain into our noses/sinuses, so if that is stuffed up you can get gunky eyes. Or, if they are pretty sick there's an illness called adnovirus that causes pink eye. It's a virus, so antibiotics won't do anything.

In general, pink eye resolves itself without any treatment at all. You can get a cream that will be soothing, but you don't really need to do anything. HTH, and I hope your dd gets better soon.
