How often does your 10-11 month old nurse??

DD is 10 months, 2 weeks, 1 day old now. I read something that said she should be nursing 4-5 times a day right now and not at all at night. That kind of shocked me because DD nurses A LOT more than that...she nurses 6-7 times a day and 2-3 times a night...so she averages about 8-10 times total...is that more than she should be nursing? Not like I'm going to stop her from nursing that often, just curious.

Re: How often does your 10-11 month old nurse??

My son is almost 14 months but I decided to jump in anyway

He nurses when he wakes up, when he goes down for his nap, and when he goes to bed at night.

I have to add, he has never been a big nurser and a month or so ago I thought he was weaning himself but he cut down to those three nursings and seems ok with that.

He also just started sleeping through the night about a month ago as well.

HTH!

My DD is 10 months 2 weeks old. She nurses 5 times in a day and 3-4 times a night. So about 8-9 times in a 24 hour period.

he is in the 8-10x's a day INCLUDING nights. somedays its more and sometimes its a bit less, just depends on the day he has and how his teeth are doing.

Re: How often does your 10-11 month old nurse??

dd is now 13 mo but her nursing pattern hasnt changed any in recent months...

5am,
7:30
9:30
noon
3
5:30
7
9pm bedtime
midnight
2am

(all times rough estimates of course - she nurses on demand)
at 10/11mo, she was eating 2 meals a day most days. sometimes just one.

I didnt bump it to 3meals till she was 1

bm/formula is primary nutrition till 1yr so they're still supposed to be nursing fairly often

Re: How often does your 10-11 month old nurse??

DS is 10 months old today. I said 4-5 X a day, but he also nurses once or twice at night, so I really should have said 5-6 (I forgot about the nights--I can practically sleep through it). HOWEVER, DS has never been that interested in nursing--for him it's strictly business. He nurses because he wants milk and then he's done--never for comfort or anything like that. So I find that he nurses a lot less than than the other babes I know his age, so I'm surprised at that statistic.

Re: How often does your 10-11 month old nurse??

My DS will be 11 months old on Wednesday and he nurses about 3 times a day(when he wakes up, at naptime and at bedtime) and maybe once at night. He is eating 3 meals a day of table food now, wont touch baby food at all anymore. A few weeks back I thought he was trying to wean but he seems happy with the 3 -4 nursing sessions a day. He is growing well and is very healthy. When I told his pediatrician that he was nursing 3-4 times a day at his 9 month check up she said that was perfect. I think there is no perfect number, it all depends on each individual child and what they want.

Ahhhhhhh, YES. Mommy. The HUMAN pacifier! There is nothing WRONG with being a human pacifier, as long as you are ok with it.... My now 11yr old was one.... BUT yep, they dont need to nurse that much, the amt you said is correct. So, if you are out and about, there is no need to feel like you are STARVING your baby if you miss a feeding... or in this case, 2+. It would hurt you more the your child...

Re: How often does your 10-11 month old nurse??

My DD who is 11months nurses ..... ALOT! She nurses probably 7 times during the day and 3-4 times at night! She only eats 1 solid meal a day (somedays she refuses some days she wants more)

But I also think she see's her older brother nurse (2.5years-old) and then wants to also.
