Any clue what causes nightmares?

Z has night terrors, which I guess is different from nightmares because they are still actually sleeping. Its really sad.

I talked to my mom cause my brother had night terrors and we determined thats what it is

well even bigger

then because they arent fun at all. What works really well for us is I immediatly take him to the rocker and hold him as tight as I can and rock and sing. And you have to be careful cause they can hurt themselves or you without even knowing. Its usually anywhere for 2-5 minutes before he stops.

the first night terror wasnt bad last nights was.. we had to take him downstairs to get him calmed down
