A boob is a boob. I would. We don't take a second thought to feeding our babies from a cows boob.

Re: Would you BF someone else's baby?

I would nurse someone elses child, and would be okay if a close friend or relative nursed mine. I haven't ever done it before, but my mom has when one of my siblings a baby and she was babysitting another child who kept refusing the mother's pumped milk in a bottle. She was keeping the baby over a weekend, and the child would not stop crying otherwise. I don't think she ever told the other mom, though.

I agree! I know the ICU at our hospital has donated breastmilk for preemie babies, because it's easier for them to digest. I wouldn't want someone else breastfeeding my baby though, because of that special bond. BUT, pumping & then bottle feeding is different, especially when its needed-like these preemies.

i wouldn't do it unless it was a true emergency situation.
isn't a mom's breastmilk tailored to the needs of her particular baby?
i just think it would be weird- of course it's just my opinion and would be my choice not to.

Re: Would you BF someone else's baby?

I would and have...one of my best friends needed a break, so I kept her little one for a few hours. She was completely inconsolable, so I called and asked...she said go for it! She was about an hour away and couldn't stand to hear her baby so upset! The baby didn't like it at first, because I'm not momma, but once she figured out its breastmilk, she was fine! I also have pumped for friends when they had to be on medication or couldn't build up a good enough pumped supply.

Another good friend of mine pumped for me, and I wouldn't mind if she breastfed my baby. We travel on the weekends so these two friends were on-call for Ella when she was smaller, in case she wouldn't take a bottle for my mom.

Re: Would you BF someone else's baby?

I would BF another's baby no questions as long as the mother was accepting of it. I have with my first DS pumped milk for another and currently with DS #2 I am donating pumped milk for The Mother's Milk Bank in CO.

Yes. But any woman's breastmilk is still more suitable to a baby than cow's milk or a soy bean(which is what formula is made from) is.

I had to at that last part. I dont hook my babies/kids up to a cows teet.

As far as formula being made from soy, unless its SOY BASED and not milk based, then its made from soy bean. Milk based is made from cow milk, but I believe that it has soy bean oil IN it. its not fully based from that. Some babies cannot tolerate soy, so they cannot be soley made from soy.
