(((hugs)))) Yes, black poop is most often a sign of blood in the stomach or GI Tract. PLease call or go tp the ER

Re: what causes Meconium poo in a 10m old?!?!

My girls had black meconium stools until they were 5-6 months old because of inability to absorb iron. The drs said it was due to their prematurity and they'd grow out of it. We had to go through a bunch of testing for parasites, infection and blood in the gi tract as well. I hope your little one is fine!

Re: what causes Meconium poo in a 10m old?!?!

OK...Im back! heres the update:

doc says probably blood in UPPER GI tract...it would be bright red if its the lower. It only happened 1 time.... but his fever is staying high...no ear infections, & lungs are fine- being written off as a virus...

his poos are not black now...dark green.

BUT last night he stated peeing blood... not alot- like a drop or 2 per change....they said if THAT gets worse, to bring the dipe in the testing...that or the black poo.

He does seem to be feeling a little better today..of course you know kids, they always seem to get sicker at night....when you want to sleep and everything is closed.

thank you all for your concerns.
