Does anyone have a grandmother that never nursed?

I don't think either of my grandmothers nursed, they each had 6 kids. DH's father's mother didn't nurse, but always says she wished she did and that she just couldn't get her milk to come in. MIL nursed DH and his 3 sisters, and I believe her mother nursed her 4 kids as well.

My GM never nursed my dad born in 1960 (my gpa didn't want her to). I don't know what they gave him. Then when I came along they insisted that my mother give me cow's milk under one year (she did b/c she was young and inexperienced & didn't know better) My MIL said that her mother give all 11 of her children cow's milk with something in it (corn syrup maybe??) and didn't nurse them either. (late 1950's to late 1960's)

I too have always assumed that people who are elderly now nursed their babies.
In my family... my grandma had 10 (my mama was the baby), she nursed them all... although they did start adding solids very early on back then.
Grandma died while I was pregnant w/ my first so I never got to rely on her in those early days for information... suprisingly though my grandpa was quite knowledgeable though

My mom said she nursed me until I cut my first tooth and bit her

DH's mom said him for about 3 months until she returned to work.

Myself and one aunt (one of the 10) are the only ones to have ever extended nurse though.
