How can I make vanilla milk?

I am such a dork! I thought I could make vanilla milk by mixing van extract and sugar (less then1/2tsp of vanilla). I did that and gave it to my lo's well I called to tell my Mom and she said WHAT! that has alchol(sp?) in it! I didn't even realize that. I never would made it if I knew .

So anyways how do you make vanilla milk?

uh yeah vanilla extract is extracted by using alcohol. its not going to do anything though lol!

and thats how id do it.

immitation vanilla is extracted from wood, etc and i wouldnt use that.. blech! its bad for you

i'm pretty sure that the amount of alcohol in it is minute. You'd have to drink a few bottles for it to have any effect. A little dollop isnt going to hurt.

I'm no expert but I bet using the guts of an actual vanilla bean or 2 would be totally awesome. I know that you can throw a split bean in your sugar container and have yummy vanilla-y sugar at whim

I use a shot of french vanilla creamer in the milk. My LOs love it and that the only thing they will drink.

Thanks! Great ideas! I talked to my MIL and she said NO on the extract because they will be getting alcholol everyday and thats not good. She said it adds up in their little systems

alcohol doesnt add up in anyones systems but okie dokie then. if youre worried about alcohol, personally id be more worried about whats i the creamer if its a non dairy kind, and it it is a dairy kind then most likely it has real vanilla from what ive seen so.. :shrug:
