My Mood:
Humming sound?

Tommy is making a humming sound a lot now. He is 22 months and doesn't talk. (We have early intervention) Anyway, he was grunting and pointing which he still does, but in the last few days he has started humming. Not a musical hum, more like a self soothing hum. Like they do when they are going to sleep. He does it in pretty long stretches.

He does not seem especially irritated, but he has a seizure disorder. Can anyone give me imput on this? Do you think it is anything to worry about? Any chance it is one of the next steps before talking? TIA mammas!

Re: Humming sound?

is it like a long drawn out "ahhhhhhhhhhh. . . . . . .ahhhhhhhh. . . . . .ahhhhhh" sound? My daughter does this when she's falling asleep sometimes. She's singing to herself and self-soothing. When she doesn't suck her thumb, she "sings" herself to sleep like this. It's usually in the car.
