So I want to change DD's name...

I mean, just the SPELLING of DD2's name. We tried to spell it as closely as possible to how it's pronounced, but we failed. Now I've come up with what I think will be mispronounced less often, but I don't know. Should I change it or leave it alone? We want it pronounced ro-eh-na (long o, short e, short a), and the current spelling is Rouena, and I am thinking of changing it to Rowehna. What do you think?

nah...even though the new spelling will be less likely to be mispronounced, i still think you should leave it as is...it's pretty

Re: So I want to change DD's name...

We played a lot with the spelling of Caelan ... I found it as Cailen .. but my husband said that was Kye-lin ... and we wanted Kay-lan ...

I would go with Roehna ... for some reason I'm not feeling the W love ... or maybe it's the w and h ... Rowena isn't bad ... or Rowaina ...

Roaina ... I like that

Of course I LOVE the Irish names that move on vowels and not consonants ... let me know what you decide I love name games!!!

Now to name my two boys on the way ... ahhh!!!

Lol yeah I guess I should of said, she is eight months old. And we actually just call her Wehna most of the time, so changing it to Rowehna would be more uniform, I guess. Keep voting I don't know what I want to do anymore, I finally pried an oppinion out of DH and he says he thinks it looks pretty the way it is. And just to reiterate, I am just talking about changing how we SPELL her name, it would be PRONOUNCED exactly the same, so given that she can't read, it would make no difference to her if we did it now.

I've only seen Rowehna spelled Rowena. (said Row when ah) If it really bothers you I'd change it to a more traditional spelling of the name to try and avoid it being pronounced wrong. If you want Row ee nah why not try Roweena.

Re: So I want to change DD's name...

I would keep it because I love the spelling the way it is now! It's very unique and elegant... plus I think changing it would be alot of work and explanation to her later on!

She'll just have to correct people when they mispronounce it. I feel you, though... Our dd's name is pronounced "Julia" and we spelt it "Giulia". We loved the spelling and uniqueness of Giulia, so we went for it. I have my days where I wonder if we made the right choice and it aggravates me so terribly when people call her Goo-Lee-ah!

If you choose to change the spelling.

If I saw Rowehna I would probably pronounce it Ro-whee-na.
Rowhenna Roehnna RoEnna
Hmmmmm I'm not sure how to spell it so people would pronounce it correctly.
BTW I think it is a BEAUTIFUL name!
