Re: Daycare & BFing Rant *UPDATED*

Bear in mind this is complete bs but I had another OL friend whos school didn't want bm in the toddler room because the other kids might drink it?! Hows that for supervision I know kids can snatch other kids stuff but I don't see how it is any different then making sure a dairy allergy kid isn't grabbing milk filled sippies or a wheat allergy wheat items. Toddlers should be seated to eat anyhow (not that mine always are but with childcare comes some more formal "rules" to keep things flowing well)

That's ridiculous! They have no right to do that...why can't they store her breastmilk in the same place that they have been storing it, in the room that she is in now, if it is an issue with storing breastmilk with other foods? Then just go pick it up when she needs a drink? They can't make your child eat/drink something that you don't want her to have! Do they know that the WHO recommends breastmilk until at least age 2? Probably not...perhaps they need to be told, eh?

Well, thankfully the regianl manager has set everything straight and DD will continue to get EBM in her sippy and NO cow or soy milk until I give the ok. I don't know what the director's deal was in the first place, I am sure when I pick DC up this evening she will give some lame "I must have misunderstood her" crap even though she directly told me it would be whole milk, 2%, soy or lacto-free. Poo Poo to her, my DD gets BREASTMILK

congrats on your " victory" lol some people are just idiots.. I dont know what Im gonna do when I go back to work.. once my daughter starts kindergarden DS will be about 13m.. so possibly weaning..is my thought... and it may not be that bad.. because daycare will add to the whole weaning " thing"

Re: Daycare & BFing Rant *UPDATED*

That's really sad that they are causing a problem. Sorry mama! Coming from someone who worked in a daycares for quite a while, I know how some of that stuff works. Just a head's up...I also know how some providers can be when the mamas request certain things or "cause problems." I have seen children treated poorly because the mom was "picky" all the while being VERY nice to the mom's face. I have heard them say bad things about the mother right in front of the child!!! Some of the things that go on in these daycares are not right at all and make me very sad. I actually had to quit one because of issues like these.
The good news is, there are people like me (and the in-home day care I worked at after) that simply love children and want to provide mama-like-love while they can't be at home. I would watch the daycare VERY closely in the future. I don't want to scare you, but better to be aware than to think they don't act differently when you aren't around.
