Re: Danger of Vicks VapoRub

We use baby Vicks rubbed on DS onesie under his pjs. It helps me be able to breath and suck on his pacifier, otherwise no one would get any sleep.

Re: Danger of Vicks VapoRub

My 17 mo old was really sick this past week (I suspect RSV,) and I searched high and low for the baby Vicks at all the stores around here. I'd seen it in the past, but it seems like it's been taken off the shelves now. I was desperate and was going to try it as a last resort to provide her some relief from congestion.

Re: Danger of Vicks VapoRub

Dh told me not to use it on small children (he's a Pediatrician). It increases mucous production which can clog up their tiny little airways and cause more breathing difficulties. When our kids are congested we use a cool mist humidifier, or you can take them in the bathroom and turn the shower on hot and close the door to steam up the room. Also, pushing fluids will help thin the gunk out, and make it easier for kids to breathe and easier for the body to expel the viruses.

We use it on the feet w/ socks on for coughs. It works great for us. We use California Baby cold and cough aromatheray essencial oil. We put 5 or so drops on a wash cloth and hang it on his curtain rod in his room. I'm to cheap to buy the diffusers. We love aromatherapy!

anything that has camphor in it- such as the 'adult' version of the product should not be around children.

See the below link, and toss anything that you have that has camphor in it and is used for kids.
