It never happened, but I did try to make a point of scheduling baths soon after she pooped, so as to minimize the chances of one happening during bathtime...

Re: How do you bath your new baby?

I've never used a baby tub. I bathed him in the kitchen sink for the first 4-5 months (with a towel like PP's have said) and now he either sits in the bathtub alone (only started that this month) or comes in the shower with me. He loves it either way and I didn't want the added hassle of a tub I won't use for long.

We used a baby tub with a cloth cover. we got one that converted to a regular baby tub (starts out with a back that can recline in 2 positions). Now we just use the regular tub we have downstairs but it's smaller then a normal tub and he sits in a tub seat.

We always just bathe with them.

As far as explosive poos, it's only happened once in all the years of baby bathing, yeah it was gross but it was one time 7+ years ago. If you bathe after a diaper change you are probably ok.

I take him in the bath with me for relax time, and in the shower with me for poop time. I've been showering with him since he was a month old, only doing sink baths when I'm lazy.

Re: How do you bath your new baby?

For DD I got a handmedown baby tub that I used until she outgrew it at 4 months, then used one of those mesh slings until she rolled off it and ended up face first in the water. After that heart attack I got wise, and got in with her. It was so much easier. I was petrified of dropping her when I got in and out, so I had DH there to hand her to me and to take her away when I was done. She never pooped on me.

Now that she's sitting fine on her own, I have a rubber mat and she has a bath by herself. I don't think I'd get another baby tub - I got rid of the one I had. It's just so much easier to bath with her. And then I can afterwards up the level in the tub and relax while DH diapers and dresses her.

Re: How do you bath your new baby?

We had a baby tub that sat on the kitchen sink. It was angled and had a ledge so baby was completely supported by the tub. It also had a drain so you didn't have to carry it and empty it. DS loved his baths in that thing. It was very similar to this.

Ugh, I HATED the baby bath! We used it a couple of times, but mostly he would shower with DH. DH would get him all washed up and then hand him to me. I would dry and dress him while DH finished getting ready.
