Re: Just back from 6mo ped visit--heart murrmer

I was born with one of the "louder" murmurs and after a pile of tests they finally figured out that I have the Mitral Valve prolapse and an Aortic prolapse. (Not sure if the Aortic one is actually called that). Both ds and dd were born with them but they both are fine now. I believe that ds's was gone by 14 months and dd by 8 months. Ds also had GERD-really really bad! Once he started gaining weight it took a little while for him to catch up but they do eventually. It wouldn't hurt to have a specialist check it out just to be sure. My dh's cousins dd has the genetic type of arthritis. Unfortunately her mother is an idiot and didn't figure it out until she was 18 months and wouldn't walk-when they made her walk the poor thing would scream in pain. She's on meds now and is doing really well. Hopefully the shoulder/arm thing will turn out to be nothing to worry about. Good Luck

I have a heart murmur and they done those sonogram thingies on it a few times just to check it out, and they said it was all A-Ok with it.

Hopefully your DDs is one of those like mine. Just keep an eye on it, and I think most of them usually resolve or turn out to be ok.

I've had one my whole life. Never caused me any problems, however, it is something they want to monitor and check every so often. I hear they are quite common so don't stress yourself over it

Re: Just back from 6mo ped visit--heart murrmer

I'm going to pray about how I'm feeling because it's really hard for me to decipher my concern as unwarranted fear or if I should really be paying attention to my suspicions. I'm sure I'm not the only mama who wonders/thinks/worries between the "am I really neurotic about this" and the "no, I should go with my instincts" and the "just follow the ped's advise" and the "there's nothing to worry about" .....AGH, many pp told me about how a mother worries and it never ends and I'm really starting to understand.

Good point about the arthitis...I don't believe it runs in mine or DH's family. I really don't have a clue about her arms/shoulders but I really *feel* that something isn't right. She starts screaming when anticipating us reaching for her arms to put on clothes. That just doesn't seem right to me and it's been like this pretty much from day 1 but with the GERD, the crying really muffled out any other reason for discomfort/pain. Now she's doing well on the current medication, I can decipher her cries/whimpers/fusses pretty well and these really seem like discomfort/pain. It just sucks because I really dislike putting clothes on her because of her crying/screaming- but what mama of a baby girl doesn't get excited about all the cute baby girl clothes?
