Re: WEEKEND Back 2 Basics...

ok diaper stripping is almost done I think....filling washer with a cold rinse and going to "watch" it go to make sure bubbles are done. Did palmolive dish soap (regular dish soap, the only regular non-antibacterial stuff I could find) and then a rinse, then filled washer with water and about a cup of bleach, and soaked for 1.5 hours, then did a wash cycle with that water, rinse, a wash cycle and rinse with nothing and another rinse....and now this so lets this will take care of the stinkies!

Phew!

I only read a little--just driveby posting before people come over today. I'm sick so I will need all of my energy for that, lol. I ordered a dozen of the LL seconds that were premiums that were full width but a couple inches too short--perfect! Not the capris--those actually looked a little too short. They were $17 for a new dozen plus shipping. Awesome.

here are the cases i was choosing between

what are your favorites? the yellow is extra long and the so is the one that is bluish green with a larger floral print - thats the one with the stripes on the back that i was thinking to make a larger on out of - I think i would have enough to do a small one and bloomers from either of the other prints or the yellow for sure
I them all so I am no help you could always do it as custom and let the buyer pick if you want

I'm happy to know i'm not alone atleast in liking them as options
that's a good idea but since i'm not a known wahm I think people would feel a lot better just seeing the finished project - also my dh has lots of work in the next couple of weeks so i'm better off just trying to do at least one today - kwim

okay i guess since i need to cut now lol i'm going to do a 6x on the longer blue/green and wait to see if a favorite develops from the other 3 for the 12/18 month one

Re: WEEKEND Back 2 Basics...

Good afternoon! Sorry I didn't make it to check in any earlier. This morning was gymnastics for E, then home for lunch. I ran the dishwasher, got E down for a nap, washed and lanolized some wool, spoke to my aunt on the phone twice, got E up from his nap, and am now doing diaper laundry. All too soon it feels like it's going to be supper time. Eek!

WFD: Sauteed shrimp with roasted vegetable couscous

WOTB: Toddler prefold with GMD orange as doubler, under recycled longies.

Monica, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope you don't have to go to the hospital. E deals with asthma, but it only flares up when he's sick. Of course, since he's 2 that's more often than I might like. With Ventolin and positioning we usually do okay though.

Even though it's all synthetic, because everything is so thin it all washes out and doesn't build up soap/bacteria/etc.? I'm thinking maybe flats (or flats stuffed in a natural fiber pocket) could be the natural fiber solution to that?
If you can do it absorbancy wise, I'd definitely go the all-natural route. I found that my microfibre towels always smelled musty, even though they were thin and we changed E at least once at night too. I totally gave up on pockets at night. We have to use "super-fitteds" which have microfibre in the core, but up to this point I haven't had any smell issues. If only there was something less heavy duty that'd hold him.

Great deal on the prefolds. You'll have to show us some action shots!
