They are also cheap to make, but since I can buy the longies/shorties for less than $5 a pair it's not worth my time to make them.

All my woolies, except one pair, are recycled made by me. If you can sew at all, or know someone who does, you can get at least a pair of longies and a soaker or shorties or a hat out of one sweater, sometimes all four and more. They are not a difficult sewing project at all, way easier than diapers IMHO. Longies and shorties are the easiest, and then soakers. If you use old sweaters you have or buy them from goodwill (at least 70% wool, no other plant-based fibers like cotton/soy/rayon in the rest) they are VERY affordable. Recycled can be as cute as knit/crochet, and if you take care of them almost as durable. But if you don't take care of them, or they get washed with the diapers accidentally, or torn up from being worn by an active kid, it's not a big loss because they are inexpensive. Occasionally they may develop small holes, but if you catch them early you can repair them where they won't even show.

The one pair of crochet I have I got in a trade making four pairs of recycled for a WAHM who has an XL sized kid. Can you imagine trying to knit or crochet a pair of longies for a kid who wears a 4T or larger? That's why she was so happy to trade. Anyway, lots of WAHMs are hurting and would be happy to trade wares. It doesn't hurt to ask!

Cheryl I completely agree with you except that I love the kozys soaker prints (for girls) and affordable diapers reusable wraps (for girls) and so it wouldnt be cheap if i still wanted and did buy them

take a walk with me into fsot woolies Tomorrow I am going to show you what I have bought off there for so little...I am talking crochet or knit longies/soakers/shorties for under $10 PPD each, skirties under $15 PPD...its all about being there ready with the paypal lol.

SOmetimes you have to snatch something up when the pic looks less the ideal but the measurements work I have been SO suprised with a skirtie...looked at the pic and thought "ok I guess I like the colours..its a good price" and paid the $12ppd and it arrived and it knocked my socks off and I found the mama who made it and went on her customs list right away!

I have bought a few pieces of more expensive wool, yes, but I also have never boughten a pair of pants for my DD, just a few shirts, and also use my hand-me-down sleepers over the wool
