Chicken Pox Vaccine

Hi,

I never post here but I need your opinions.

Connor my son is 2 will be three in May. He is up to date with all his shots but the Chicken Pox vaccine.

I will really against him getting it because I had a family member get a really bad case of the chicken pox after getting the shot which he was hospitalized but the preschool Connor is going to is requiring him to get it.

Do you guys/gals know any way around this.

Thank you in advance.

I just don't want him to get sicker then he already is... He already has a lung disease.

He doesn't have either... SO I am not sure what I need to do.

can you get his titers tested?? he may have an immunity and not actually had them, and if you can prove that, they may not make you get it.. worth a shot anyway. (no pun intended lol)

I don't know how you go about an exemption if the school is aware he is up to date on all of the other vaxs. Try talking to the director to see what can be done.

I am sorry to hear about your LO having lung disease. I wold definitely be worried about vax. my LO if they already had a pre-existing illness.

I have not looked into it but I know that there are religious exemptions, it might be a lie but I think most places honor them. Other than that I am not sure.

Also would your ped. be willing to sign something due to his lung disease, I know there are medical exemptions as well. I would think that most peds. would take into account your fear and might even agree with you. That is worth a try.

Most religious exemptions, in my understanding, are all or nothing. I don't think you can claim only certain vaxs are violate your beliefs. If the school is already aware he is vaxed I don't think a religious exemption would work. However, if you were to transfer to somewhere new you could give them your religious exemption in place of his shot record. The new school does not even need to be aware that he does have some vaxes.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine

Does your state offer a philosophical exemption? You can pick and choose which shots to exempt under that type.
