HELP! Does any have a fireplace?

DD stuck a photo on the glass of our fireplace!

I caught it right when she put it on but it stuck super fast. I peeled it off as quickly as I could without ripping the photo.... but it left a residue on the glass. DH tried Goo Gone and some Simple Green but it didn't work. I turned on the fireplace to see if it made a difference and whatever was on there burned and smelled like melted plastic (like accidentally leaving tupperware on a hot stove). Now there is a brown burnt looking spot on the glass. We can't use it now which is bad because it keeps the house warm so any suggestion on what I could do would be helpful.

I do that to the pellet stove all the time. When I fill it I always hit it with the bag and it melts to the glass. You can still use it, we do the smell goes away it doesn't catch fire. Ours never has and its usually really big spots. Dh uses a razor to scrap off the plastic after the glass cools down. It gets it off every time.
