Poor little girl. That sounds so painful.

I know a few ladies on here follow Dave Ramsey's plan (us included!) and I saw the comment about Dave Ramsey being a scam artist - you'll have to forgive my strong words about this but that's a bunch of HOOEY he's not a scam artist.... I'm tempted to say more, but I won't because I love you ladies! and I don't want to start a fight.

By following Dave Ramsey's plan & with his motivation, our family payed off over $24,000 in 9.5 months this past year and now have $12K in the bank for emergencies and we do NOT make a lot of money, trust me if you really want to know how much I'll say, but otherwise you'll have to take my word for it.

So tell your story!! Who has payed of big bills in the last few years?? who has hopes and dreams of doing so in the future?? Tell us all about it!
a scam artist....thems fightening words around here Did I make my point?

Re: Back to Basics Pay it Down! Wednesday

Morning!

We have significant debt. Lots of consumer debt, a three-figure law school loan, two car payments, and a mortgage. I'm mostly concerned with the consumer debt, which is way too high for our income. Our plan for DH's career to be a law firm lawyer until the debt was paid was cut short due to the economy. Remember back in December when he changed to the lower-paying job? Now everyone in his department at his old job has been laid off. He couldn't get a law firm job if he wanted to.

We have made the minor changes. Stopped most of our buying. Make stuff from scratch, CDing, etc. The struggle I have right now is making the major sacrifices short term to get the debt down. We are at the point we have to cut those things, or bring extra income in, to make any significant progress. It's complicated, because there are contracts involved, DH needs to have high-speed internet and a cell phone for his job but is not reimbursed for it, I can't figure out how to bring in extra income and still meet the needs of my family, stuff like that, but I am starting to figure it out.

I'm going to try to go the library and check out Dave's book. Even though I have read through other means the elements of the program, I think I need to read the actual book to get properly motivated. And if DH sees me reading it, chances are he'll read it too and that would help tremendously.
