Baby wipe dimensions?

I need to make more cloth wipes for the new baby. I was going through some old receiving blankets from when my 2 boys were babies & I have 3 I would like to cut up into flannel wipes. How big should I make them? The one's I have made in the past have been too small. I will be storing them in a disposable wipe box. Any suggestions on the dimensions?

Thanks!

I just bought 24 8X8 flannel squares from Wazoodle for 5 bucks! I serged around the edges an I like the size of them - and I can fit them in a wipe box when tri-folded.

I also like a finished size of 8x8.

Hmm.. I just made all of mine and they are 5x5. Sometimes I have to use two if it's a blowout, but most of the time they are large enough to do the job.

Re: Baby wipe dimensions?

I make my obv/flannel wipes 8x8. IMO that is a little too big for a wipe, but when the obv shrinks after washing they are the perfect size. SO I guess my fave size is 7-7.5 squars. When you fold them in half they fit perfectly in plastic wipes boxes, and the travel containers.

Re: Baby wipe dimensions?

I was researching the same thing last night since I am planning to make wipes as a way to practice sewing. The most common sizes seemed to be 8x8 or 8x4. I was going to make some of each size.

Re: Baby wipe dimensions?

I buy a 12 pack of Gerber washcloths ($5-$6). I like them because they are smooth cloth on one side for just wiping, and terry on the other so they can clean sticky poop. They fit perfectly in a wipe box and I fold them over each other so that they pop up like disposables. So easy, and all you do is pour your wipe solution over them in the container and pull up the first one.

I have a plastic square that is 7.5x7.5 that I have been using. Seems like a good size to me.
