Girl name or boy name?

Okay so I think I've found a girl name that I love. However, I told my mom the name and she thinks it's too masculine. She also thinks it's too similar to my little sisters name. So tell me what you think. My little sister's name is Emma, and if it makes any difference she is 13 years younger than me. The name we're thinking of is Emerson. I think she'd be an Emerson Hope. My other dd's names are
Kyla Grace
Makenna Faith

Sounds like a boys name to me personally, but if you like it then that's all that matters

Re: Girl name or boy name?

Personally I think it sounds like a boy name. I've never heard it paired with a girl before. BUT when it comes down to it, if that's what you and DH want to name your new little girl, then by all means.

Re: Girl name or boy name?

I thought of a boy when I first read the name. I can't imagine a little girl named, Emerson.

I do think that Emma and Emerson are similar and would make for a great sister/brother set.

neutral! I know a girl Emerson and love it but I would use it on a boy as well!

I've heard it as a girl name, I believe Teri Hatcher has a daughter named Emerson...

I like it for either gender!

Re: Girl name or boy name?

I think it's a very GN name. it would be suited for a boy or a girl. However, it does seem close to emma. She may even get nicknamed "em, ems, emmy, emma" and you may not like that....

pretty name though!

what about Micah? not sure if you are up for suggestions, but we liked Micah for a boy or a girl, and we ended up having a boy.
