MALWARE is back! virus just tried to download on my computer!!

Some things that will help avoid getting a virus:
1. Use Firefox.
2. Install a firewall like Zone Alarm. (NOTHING gets through that unless you authorize it)
3. If you see something questionable - don't click it - don't even click cancel or no if it gives you an option. Immediately open up your task manager (ctrl + alt + delete) and close it that way.

Now it got my laptop too... . This is really pissing me off. I tried to click the X and it opened and started "fixing" my computer.

Have you tried switching to Firefox for your browsers instead of using Internet Explorer. I used to have a ton of issues with IE so about 2 years ago I switched. Now I only use IE when I find a site that does not run well on Firefox (which is only a few times over the course of the 2+ years I have been using Firefox)

Most viruses and spyware are written to run ion IE so they are not picked up on FF. I love firefox and will not go back to IE ever.

Just happened to me. I hope I didn't screw up my computer. I knew better than to allow it to "fix" my computer, but I tried to close it because I couldn't figure out how to get it off the screen........ running mcafee now.... Drat.....

This sucks. Does anyone have a GOOD reason why admin won't fix this problem? I're read about DS being infested before, but it never happend to me... and now like 8 times in the past 24 hours it's happened - I've caught it each time and "x" out, but isn't someone on the admin side of things able to see that this same infestation can't just be a coincidence to all of us DS mommas?

I also keep Spybot Search and Destroy on all my computers (including work computer), i may get the occasional bug if I forget to update it, but it was the only program to help clean out my old computer which was a click away from total system crash...) it is free and safe and now supposed to e compatible with all other anti-virus programs..

I haven't noticed a prob w/this site yet....I also use firefox to browse

Now, I have a question. I had the pop up on my computer but I didn't install it. I x'd out of the screen. Does this mean I could have a virus from doing that?

The one popping up for me is Anti-Virius-1. I have McAffe on my computer and adware and there all came up okay. Now the I keep getting little things word bubbles saying that my computer is not protected, stuff being stolen off computer etc! They want me to buy their software. How do I make them stop poping up and is Anti-Virius-1 the virius?

I got a virus last time it was going around and wiped my hard drive, advised to do so by the folks at Dell ( ) But I wish the first thing I had done was posted over at Spywarehammer.com. They were super helpful ( have to be patient though, they're busy!) If you download hijackthis and copy and paste a log of it they can tell you what to do next.
Does anyone know if becoming a site supporter helps? Since the ads go away?
