Question What's the earliest time a DC starts to PT?

DS will be 17 month on Dec12th and he just now started telling me when he pooped in his dipe. I honestly can't remember when DD started; all I know she was PT'ed ~22 months, but mostly I think b/c she was in daycare where it was their routine to go potty after snack time.

I'm honestly wondering if it's a sign of DS being ready to start PT or if it's just b/c he also recently started to answer me when I ask him certain questions...

What do you think? What's your experience?

ETA: I def. don't want to 'push' DS to PTing early! But I also wouldn't want to hinder any development, kwim? (I'd just hate having to let go of my beloved fluffy dipes earlier than I expected )

If I don't respond, it's because we're 6 hrs ahead of EST and I might be sleeping already

I started putting dd on the potty when she started waking up dry at 7 months. She's now almost 18 months and has recently started telling me when she has to go (most of the time......we still have misses...) If he's ready....go for it...

I don't think that there is too early an age.

Wow, waking up w/7 mo. dry??? I wish that'd be the case here! lol
Well.. I guess I'll get a potty to have it in the house and will see if I can include it just into playtime for him so he gets the idea.

Re: What's the earliest time a DC starts to PT?

The boys helped me make that last post . I typed the entire response, they somehow deleted it, so I started to type it again when they somehow posted it. I gave up trying and took them into the backyard to play . I was just gonna say that DS #1 gave me the signals and PTd very smoothly at 18 months old. He always woke up dry and almost never had accidents (like 2 in the first year of being PTd). Also, we skipped trainers. We just let him run around bare bottomed at first, then went to big boy undies.

I started putting both of my kids on the potty, at least on occasion, when they were a year old. I don't do it as reguarly as I'd like with DS but he loves to sit on the potty. I don't push it or anything but it at least gets them used to it.

I figured you got interrupted

Wow, 18 months, huh? That's amazing! So much for the 'old wives tale' of boys PTing later than girls, huh?

I'll really have to go and get a potty for DS! Right now I only have the attachment for the big toilet seat we kept from DD's PTing time but I'm not sure if that's too much of a big step, kwim? Maybe I'll find a cute potty..
