Help! My washing machine is goofing up my CDs and clothes :(

Just in the past few weeks, I started to notice that my diapers have started to get fuzzy...like they look faded, but they're not fading, they're just getting coated in a layer of fuzzy stuff. I have a stash that is 95% Goodmamas, mostly prints and everything looked fine.
For what it's worth, I've noticed that some of my clothing and the kids' clothing is starting to look this way, too. Things are coming out of the washer looking like they've been through hell and back, it's so weird

My wash routine for my CDs is: cold pre-wash, hot wash/cold rinse with either Charlie's or 7th Generation Gentle Wash, cold 2nd rinse. I have a pretty basic Kenmore washer that we've had for about 7 years now and have not had any issues with.

What the heck is happening? Any ideas?

Maybe your washer is getting old? It sounds like the agitation is too much. I'd try slowing the agitation or if you've got a couple grand to spare, but a front loader

Do you line dry or dryer? If you dryer, it sounds like it could possibly be your dryer not catching lint right.

it's not the dryer b/c the clothes look this way coming out of the washer. i line dry my dipes and then usually fluff them on low for about 15-20 minutes.

You may need to wash your washer.

Run it on HOT/HOT (if you can, if not HOT/COLD) with 1 cup white vinegar.

Then run it with the same settings with just water

Then run it (SAME SETTINGS) with 1 cup bleach

Then again with just water

That should clean all the residue and gunk out of your washer and hoses. In order to keep our washers cleaning properly, we have to give the washer a bath every once in awhile. (like every 3-6 months) I usually go until my clothes just don't seem like they're getting as clean as they used to (which is usually about every 2 years )

Maybe this is all you need to fix the problem.

I just cleaned it out yesterday using a similar method. It didn't work.
