Another intact/circ question...sorry

I know I always ask you ladies things, but you gals seem to know so much more than many doctors, nurses, and certainly main stream people!

My brother found out tonight that my youngest is intact and went OFF on me and told me I should get it done now or when he's older, it has higher STD rates, which I told him that was BS, it was no longer recommended by ANY major organization, insurance was no longer covering it, and the rates are way down, etc, etc....

My dad and mom have never given me crap but my dad chimed in and said "well, I have a friend who is uncircumcised and his doctor told him that he was having prostate problems (or cancer...I can't remember) because he was not circumcised"

I told my dad that I've never even HEARD that as an excuse...and I wouldn't give him surgery that could kill him, cause infection, take away pleasure, the New Testament says you SHOULDN'T circ, etc just because he *might get something...he can choose for him self to get cut if he wants to, but I will not do it for him...my dad, you could tell he didn't believe a word I was saying.

So, is that really true? Somewhat true? That is one alleged benefit that I've yet to hear...seems odd that a piece of skin on the penis would have much to do with the butt region

Nope. Completely 100% false. They are just giving you more myths and falsehoods.

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

Yup...untrue...
And I hate the whole STD thing too! On that dumb show the Doctors the female OB is always saying how STD's are less of a risk for the woman if a male is Circ'ed...that just irks me because in that case STD's should be REALLY low! And it gives a false sense of security IMO about not using a condom.

Yea, the STD rates should be LOWER in the US if that were the case since WE are the only place still doing RIC and our rates are NOT lower than places with most intact males...makes NO since to me!

I've been told that too!! I didn't buy it. My DS would be intact if it hadn't been medically needed to be done. And yes it really did. they had to go into his wee-wee and strech the muscle in there because it was not growing right. So they used the to hide where the cut would have been.

This stuff is not right. we even saw a wee wee specialist and he never even tried to give me these lines of crap haha. Good for you mama standing your ground. I only wish I could say my boy was still intact.

The amount of misinformation out there is frightening. I'd remind them that most of the world is intact and there don't seem to be any widespread problems. I really think a lot of this comes from men needing to justify the fact that they were circ'd themselves.

Re: Another intact/circ question...sorry

Nope, prostate cancer has nothing to do with the forskin or lack there of. Look at how many men in the US have prostate cancer and issues. I can't count how many comercials I see for drugs for prostate health and bladder problems related to enlarging prostate. And most of the men in the US in that age range are circ.

A man can get penile cancer, which often effects the forskin. However it is possibly the rarest form of cancer there is, and studies have shown that circumcised men are at risk for post surgical carcinoma of the penis. They get cancer in the circumcision site scar. Penile cancer can be treated through circumcision, treatment of post surgical carcinoma of the penis is a bit more difficult.

What? STD's? Ok, the cure for that is 'don't sleep with skanky people'. lol That's absurd!
