Help with Eczema on DS scalp
We just left the doctor and she believes that DS is suffering from eczema on his scalp. DS was born with a head full of hair but over the past few weeks he has scratched the top of his head bald.
We were given a prescription for the equivalent of Selsum Blue but after reading through the instructions, side effects and warnings I am scared to use it on DS. She also recommended washing his hair only once a week (with the prescribed shampoo/lotion) and to gently apply olive oil to his scalp. If anyone else has dealt with this problem with their little one, please share your experience. Thanks

Re: Help with Eczema on DS scalp
well, with ds, I gave up on the doctor's advice....Only because I believe in going natural and then if needed go medical.
What cleared up ds: -paul mitchell baby shampoo (every 3 days) -olive oil on scalp -hydrocortisone cream on the really nasty spots this cleared ds up in a few weeks, and now the eczema is only behind his ears |

Re: Help with Eczema on DS scalp
If you want a natural treatment, goat's milk is really helpful with eczema. you could get some lotion that has goat's milk.
My grandmother and aunt had really bad eczema and the doctor told them about goat's milk. So they went out and bought a goat. They swear by it.

Re: Help with Eczema on DS scalp
You could try giving him Omega-3 supplements. Weleda baby shampoo might be worth a try--it has calendula in it which helps heal skin. Also, a lot of eczema is caused by food sensitivities, so you may want to look at poosible trigger in your ds/your diet.

Re: Help with Eczema on DS scalp
baby oil or olive oil rubbed in gently and left on for 10-15 minutes. wash/shampoo hair less frequently. thin layer of aveeno over-the-counter hydrocortisone .5% or 1% twice a day as needed is fine. it may just clear up on it's own, too.
up omega 3 in your diet if you bf. gl mama!
