Smile If you nurse "from the top"..........

.....(meaning you don't pull your shirt up, rather that you pull yourself out of the top of your shirt) what is your preferred attire? What kind of shirts, bras, tanks, etc. do you like?

I live in the very hot and humid Southeast so layering isn't exactly what I want to do. The simplier, the better. With my last child I just wore Old Navy tanks with the shelf bra and pulled myself out of the top when she nursed but they weren't the most supportive and not very flattering, kwim? And I've never known what kind of bra to wear under spaghetti strap tanks anyway so that it didn't look bad. If it matters, I hung around the 36 c-d size and probably will again this time. (except right after birth I hit the E status - owee!)

Most of the nursing tanks I've tried expose too much.......either you see the dark of the areola or the nipple is poking through.

So what do you all do?

Thanks!

Re: If you nurse "from the top"..........

I still have some of the maternity tops that I bought from the JC Penney outlet that cross over in the front (sort of a faux wrap shirt look). Those have mid-length sleeves and are made with enough stretch that they don't look all baggy and preggo when you wear them post-baby. They're also modest enough that you can wear a good nursing bra that's supportive underneath. Frankly I prefer nursing when I pull my shirt up, but those ones work great for pulling out a boob from the top.

good luck!

I really like the nursing tanks from Target and I usually pair it with a zip up hoody or a button down sweater.

Sometimes I pull my shirt down...it depends ob how much stretch my shirt has. My boobies are rather large (38H) so it's not always easy to go that way.

I have about 4 of the shirts that crossover in the front. They're not maternity or nursing shirts but they work so well! Other than that I use a tank with a shelf.

Re: If you nurse "from the top"..........

I nurse from the top. I tend to only choose shirts with stretch neck openings, especially low-cut tops. I also favor cross-over style tops (not "nursing" ones specifically-- any cross style top would do.)

I have a few nursing bras, but the selection in my area is limited. So now I often supplement my nursing bra wardrobe with lower-cut "demi" style underwire bras. Not *the* most comfortable bra option-- but it definitely works

I should note that I have VERY large breasts, so most of my shirts are low-cut to begin with. It's hard to find stuff that looks good and fits.

I like the nursing camis at Target. They work great and don't show through at all. When I don't wear those, I try to pull down too depending on the shirt. Some just don't have enough stretch but most do. Sometimes I wear the shelf bra tanks but as you said, the uniboob look isn't so flattering and they don't really give a lot of support. But it is easy to just pull a breast out.

I found some great tops at Old Navy recently-a tshirt with a low neck and buttons, and some stretchy tanks.

There's a nursing from the top cover:
slurpnburp

(I don't know if it actually works--we nurse from the bottom with no cover--but it looks cool.)
